Join the Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (NCEDSV) in our efforts to increase awareness of abuse against adolescents and young adults for this one session virtual webinar. This presentation will give attendees a basic understanding of disabilities and how adolescents and young adults with developmental disabilities are targeted for abuse. Appropriate intervention strategies will be shared to improve communication between the survivor and the advocate. In addition, tips will be offered to help the individual’s support person or caregiver understand the effects and consequences of trauma. Best practices will be highlighted to ensure people with developmental disabilities are receiving survivor-centered, trauma-informed assistance that promotes healing.
Recommended Audience: Community and systems-based domestic and sexual violence advocates, supporters for people with disabilities, and other allied professionals working to support young adults with disabilities.
