The Nevada Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (NCEDSV) is the state coalition advocating for the prevention and elimination of domestic and sexual violence through partnering with communities.
In 2017 NCEDSV started the Lives Improved by Financial Empowerment, L.I.F.E., Microloan Program with a grant received from the Allstate Foundation. That Allstate Foundation grant is used to encourage and increase Financial Empowerment for those survivors of domestic violence. 99% of all domestic violence victims experience economic abuse during an abusive relationship, and finances are often cited as the biggest barrier to leaving an abusing relationship. The L.I.F.E. Microloans are designed to assist survivors of domestic or sexual violence with a loan of no more than $500. The client can use this loan for anything needed to help develop self-sufficiency.
NCEDSV is partnering with the Allstate Foundation for the Purple Purse Challenge to raise funds to continue our mission. The funds raised will continue to allow NCEDSV to educate advocates of the benefits of financial literacy, advocate for prevention, and develop new trainings and materials.
