Victim Assistance Academy of Nevada

VAAN is a state-specific victim advocate academy that has been providing a 40-hour week-long in-person training since 2014. VAAN was established by the State of Nevada Division of Child and Family Services under specific training funding under VOCA and was implemented by community partners through a Steering Committee.  In 2023, VOCA training funding was no longer available and NCEDSV picked up the project to continue the valuable work that had been established.  The goal of VAAN is to provide, expand and enhance foundational skills and knowledge for those who interact with victims of crime, and has been designed to reflect Nevada’s changing need.

VAAN is Under Construction!

The Victim Assistance Academy of Nevada will be returning in 2027!  During this period, NCEDSV is diligently working to provide the most up-to-date best practices when working with victims of crime.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this causes.  In the meantime, please check out our options below:

PRE-ACADEMY PREP

In lieu of the full academy, we are offering a pre-academy set of trainings to increase knowledge when working with victims.  This pre-academy will be focused around community and systems advocates working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence.  While we are unable to offer national certification with this academy, we can offer a wide array of expertise to build or refresh your skills.

This pre-academy will be held virtually, from August 5-7 and 12-14 from 10:00-11:30AM.
