Indigenous people are one of the most at-risk groups for domestic and sexual violence, despite the fact that this type of violence was brought on by colonization, and is not a traditional way of life. This training will review your role as an advocate on how to safety plan for Indigenous survivors who decide to leave, stay, or continue contact, survivors with children, or when violence becomes unavoidable. We will also look beyond safety planning, and supporting Indigenous survivors in returning to a non-violent way of life.
We are not an emergency shelter or a crisis hotline. View a statewide directory of shelters, community-based advocacy, and legal assistance programs.
