Hanging Out or Hooking Up? Teen Relationship Abuse: What Is It? How Can I Help?

Description

This presentation will be discussing how to identify relationship abuse, support adolescents who are struggling in an abusive relationship and the key elements of universally promoting a healthy relationship.

  • Warning signs – “RED” Flags
  • Barriers to leaving an abusive relationship
  • How to support a teen
  • Promoting healthy relationships
  • Tools & resources for teens, parents, educators, and other professionals

This presentation is an introduction for understanding the complexity of adolescent relationship abuse and setting the stage for promoting healthy relationships. Recommended audiences: educators, coaches, counselors, school administrators, social workers, batterer intervention facilitators, and other professionals working with young adults. In addition, parents, caregivers, and school board members are welcome to attend.
